Once, when in Greece, we collected many many snails. Of course, they need to be purged with flour for several days before you can eat them. But by the time they were clean, I'd started calling them the boys. How could I eat the boys? My husband was happy because it meant more for him!
Snail
He cannot fly. He cannot hop. He cannot run at all. But you should see The way he goes Slowly up the wall.
He cannot skip Or race about. He has one way to go; And as I watched him I must say He's good at going slow. http://www.canteach.ca/elementary/songspoems27.html
Laurie, not sure that I could eat them either. They're just too cute. Thanks for the poem, I'll read it to the kids tomorrow. I'm sure they'll like it. They collect snails often and keep them in the bug box for one night before letting them go. Today we have little hermit crabs from the sea in the box... Oh and thanks for the link. I'll check it out.
Although I'm not here with the blog as much as I used to be, I'm still out taking photos of everything and now I'm addicted to Instagram...so follow ccingreece if you want to see what I'm up to!

Mucha gente entra en y sale de su vida a lo largo de los años. Pero solo los verdaderos amigos dejan huellas en su corazón...
Welcome!
I've been married to my Greek husband for 23 years and we have 3 children ages 10 & under. 6 years ago, we moved to Greece and I started this blog so that my family & friends at home could keep up with what we're doing. Remarkably, this blog has taken a life of its own and I've come to know some pretty amazing people so it's more than just a blog about my family, it's about sharing my experience with anyone that's interested in my frequent musings & photographs. Enjoy! :)

But...will that one snail be enough for the whole family?
ReplyDeleteOh Lulu! You're so funny! Not having any snails over here...Iza would be crushed.:)
ReplyDeleteAw, that's sweet of her!
