Winter warm up

Before I get back to my regular blogging I have to share with you that I'm perplexed as to how I have fruit flies attacking my glass of wine. I mean, it's winter and it's cold here...I haven't seen any fruit flies or any flies at all  in weeks...

???

That's it for now...I have more posts coming this week!

  1. Yes, the little horrors get everywhere!
Look forward to hearing more from you this week.

  2. well, we kill three mosquitos a day, if that's any consolation...

  3. Maybe because of your 'blue' blood, although I share the first comment by Laurie Constantino!!

  4. We get flies all the time and our stupid cats are refusing to do anything productive about it. I think if you live in the 'burbs in Greece, you can pretty much count on some buggage year round, no matter how cold it is.

  5. Maybe if you bought another wine they don't like as much? They're probably used to the local wines. They might frown on partaking of other wines. The good news of course is you're still trying to have a good glass of wine!

  6. Laurie-LOL! Thanks for the compliment- but ask my husband how sweet I am these days! :)

Jude...Ya know?! And to top it off, they only show up when I pull out the wine!

Maria- That has to be irritating. You just need a little relief once in a while! We actually killed one a few weeks ago and we were really surprised to see it as we thought they were all gone.

Philip-I don't know what it is but I also wonder how many I've consumed unknowingly. Ick. Also, please refer to my reply to Laurie regarding my sweetness...:)

Mel- You're right. We've only been relieved of actual flies for a few short weeks, the cats are probably bored of the flies...they've probably caught one...they know they can do it so now why bother? I'm kind of like a cat in a lot of ways...
I like the word "buggage"...that's good.

R-I've increased my wine quota over the last month. I make sure to have one glass a day, it's supposed to be good for us, right? As far as their preference in wine-I think that they like anything(wine related) that I try to enjoy. It's the one thing that I can do for myself without technically sharing and then I have to share it with them, damn flies.

  8. Philip...you're funny! Let's wait and see what he has to say...if anything! (we could be waiting for quite a while)

  9. It's not limited to the burbs, we have them here in good ol' urban Athens...and mosquitos (like Kiwi said) also.

And I don't think it's because I'm sweet. They're just bloodsuckers and perhaps dehydrated.

  10. I thought of this post and what Maria said above last night, as mosquitos were eating me alive. I woke up with 10 bites this morning. Mosquito machine with liquid is plugged in now, but it doesn't help much with the allergic reaction. :( Wah!!!

  11. Kat...you poor thing! I hate bugs! Iza seems to have a few bites on her every now and then too. It's just irritating!

  15. Cheryl - you're right about wine being healthy. Maybe that's what the flies are thinking too? Look on the bright side: they don't drink much. If you have a friend or two over you might go through several bottles in a hour or two. But if all you have is flies hanging out with you then the wine lasts a lot longer.

    ;)
