  4. Once, when in Greece, we collected many many snails. Of course, they need to be purged with flour for several days before you can eat them. But by the time they were clean, I'd started calling them the boys. How could I eat the boys? My husband was happy because it meant more for him!

    Snail

    He cannot fly.
    He cannot hop.
    He cannot run at all.
    But you should see
    The way he goes
    Slowly up the wall.

    He cannot skip
    Or race about.
    He has one way to go;
    And as I watched him
    I must say
    He's good at going slow.

  5. Laurie, not sure that I could eat them either. They're just too cute. Thanks for the poem, I'll read it to the kids tomorrow. I'm sure they'll like it.
    They collect snails often and keep them in the bug box for one night before letting them go. Today we have little hermit crabs from the sea in the box...
